Will Finds a Win, Tim Finds the Tin

Another two wins in January made it three in a row for the 1st team as we find ourselves 2nd place in Div. 2.

All but one of the 5 matches played against Crawley needed a deciding 5th game to determine a winner. With the tie balanced at 2 apiece, it was up to young Will Johnson to play out the deciding game.

Despite going two games down to a tricky opponent, Will was able to dig in and turn it into a 3-2 win not only for himself but for the team.

This was followed up by another win, this time against Bognor. The team were able to welcome back Lee Welch after a lengthy injury and sealed a comfortable win.

Once again the 2nd and 3rd teams were pitted against each other, this time with the 3rds acting as the ‘Home’ team. The 2nds were able to record their second win of the season, the first of course coming in the reverse fixture at the beginning of the season.

No Win Tim Canham was up to his old tricks again as the 4th team notched a 3rd win of the season against West Worthing.

Wins for each of his team mates ensured a strong victory for the 4ths; however a win for Tim remains as elusive as ever.

When I questioned Captain Jon Tucker as to whether Tim had still not claimed victory this season, he had this to say;

‘…you are in fact partially right. He is still without a team win this season, but this builds on his complete absence of wins for the whole of last season as well.’
