No Wise Men in Bluecoats Squash League

Happy New Year to you all and I hope your Christmas was a merry one.

It certainly was a happy December for the Bluecoats Squash teams with our top three teams all avoiding defeat throughout the month.

The most important of all those victories was perhaps the one that the 1st team gained away to local rivals Horsham. Even without their number 1, whom I hear is completely useless, they dominated their way to a 4-1 victory that has helped them to the top of the table.

Wins against Arun and, once again, Horsham sees the 2nd team climb away from danger.

After seeing the team sheet for the 3rd teams fixture against Middleton, which consisted of club greats Ross Barnes, David Stanley, Graham Johnson and Piers Chadwick, Midhurst clearly didn’t fancy their chances and awarded their opponents a walkover to secure a second victory of the month for the 3rds.

Just to add insult to injury, 4th team captain Jon Tucker scouted and recruited young George Boyle from Horsham. George, already a member of staff at Bluecoats, played his first two games in December winning one and losing the other.

It seemed to really be the season for miracles as everyone’s favourite superstar Tim Canham recorded his first victory in 2 years, a 3-0 effort against Arun’s 4th seed.
