New Year, New Start

It’s a brand new year, time for all the ‘turning a new page in the book’, new year, new me cliche stuff we all secretly love.

Most of you will probably already have thought about what new year’s resolutions you will be making for 2017. There’s no doubt that most of you are vowing to join the Gym or be more active with your membership, or simply more determined to be healthy.

However, do you have the feeling you’ve made this resolution 100 times before? It happens to everyone, so don’t worry. After the holiday season of eating, drinking and being merry (all in excess), it’s almost a reflex reaction to join the Gym or start a new exercise that by the end of January you might have lost all enthusiasm for unfortunately.

Yet, we’re here to help as it really doesn’t have to be so hard. It’s true, you don’t need superpowers to make your resolution stick.

The following tips are key to keeping your resolution:

  • make your resolution manageable
  • write it down and record progress
  • ask for help
  • choose the right technology to support you
  • think outside the box

Here at Bluecoats, our friendly team can help you with all of these things.

Five stage induction process

What makes us different is that when you take out a membership we offer you a five stage Gym induction process. Rather than just one induction session where you are shown how to use the equipment and then left to fend for yourself, we give you five scheduled training sessions.

In each session you’ll get a dedicated hour with one of our qualified gym instructors; they will give you a training session on an equipment of your choice, showing you exercises to help you achieve your goals.

This five stage induction process is designed to ease you into the Gym slowly and gently. This ensures you know exactly how to use the equipment and what you need to do to achieve your goal, leaving you feeling more motivated to continue your journey.

In addition, if you find that the one-to-one induction sessions worked well for you, you can book additional Personal Training sessions with any of our Gym instructors.

These sessions will:

  • provide the support and motivation you need towards achieving your goal
  • design and tailor a personal exercise routine to suit your needs
  • optimise each area of exercise in your fitness programme

Every Personal Training session is on your agenda and has the scope to include exercises to improve health, aerobic fitness, strength, endurance, shaping and toning, core stability and more. Combined, this adds up to your sessions staying refreshing, meaning you’ll enjoy yourself and even look forward to coming back time and time again.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Even if there is something you are unsure about when in the gym, our friendly instructors are always happy to help and guide you.

Choose the right technology

All of our equipment is provided by Technogym, the leader in the Fitness and Wellness solutions sector. All the machines are linked to MyWellness, an online platform for health and fitness that makes your workout experience more personal, fun and effective. It helps you to improve your lifestyle by allowing you to access your personal fitness data on the go.

The app and how it works is fully explained to you during your first induction session and helps you to write and measure your fitness efforts. MyWellness app helps with motivation as it gives you a weekly goal of activities to complete based on your lifestyle and also keeps track of your measurements and checks your progress over time. You’ll be able to see your progress presented clearly in facts and figures.

Think outside the box

You don’t have to always be in the gym, although you’re more than welcome! If you feel your Gym routine starts to get a little tedious  we have a huge range of facilities including our Swimming pool, Tennis courts, Squash courts and sports halls that you can use as part of your membership. Variety is the spice of life! Why not take a walk on the wild side and give GRIT training, Boxercise or Dance fusion a try? You might discover a new passion.

Want to find out more? Our open day is on the 28th January and everyone is invited. Come and see our facilities and try taster sessions all for free. We’ll see you there!
