Marie Curie Swimathon 2015

Ever fancied doing something for charity? Well at Bluecoat Sports it couldn’t be easier!

From Friday 17 to Sunday 19 April 2015, swimmers will take the plunge and take part in Swimathon 2015, fundraising for Marie Curie. The UK’s biggest fundraising Swimming event will see thousands of people taking the plunge at hundreds of pools around the country, including us at Bluecoat Sports.

Participants can take part in t1238206_643073359070231_44763656_nhe event at Bluecoat Sports on either the 18th or the 19th April 2015. The challenges are designed to suit all levels of fitness, all abilities and all ages. If you are a keen swimmer you can choose to take on one of our individual 1.5k, 2.5km or 5k challenges or if you want to share the distance you can take part in the Team 1.5k and 5k. Last year’s event saw hundreds of individuals, couples, families and friends take part in the event which resulted in raising a massive £9,500 for Marie Curie.

I am the person that will be leading the organisation of this event and pushing for the £10,000 that we hope to raise for this fantastic charity.To464948_588008721218632_1523007184_o add to the fun factor this year we have decided to theme the weekend and invite all of the little’uns that will be attending to come in their onesies (who doesn’t own one these days?!), whether it be leopard print or Buzz Lightyear – we want to see them!

My promise to you is that I, along with my Duty Management Team, will be entering the Swimathon ourselves (as a team), and we will swim the whole 1.5k IN our onsies! We will be sure to get some photographic evidence too!

For all information you can log on to the Swimathon Website here or come and see me at the Club. On sign up you will be asked to select your pool, how many people your Swimming with, the length you want to swim and finally the time slot in which you would like to complete the challenge. You have the choice of Saturday 18th between 2pm and 7pm or Sunday 19th between 12pm and 5pm – exact timings will be issued nearer the event.

We look forward to seeing you be part of this fantastic event.
