Five Reasons to Work Out with a Partner

1. You’ll be more motivated.pt-1

It’s one thing to cancel plans with yourself, but it is a another thing to cancel on your friend. You are much more likely to end up in the Gym if you have committed to going with someone else, someone who is counting on you, than if you make casual plans with only yourself. Commit to a set time with your training partner, and after a short period of time, you won’t even think about cancelling on them!

2. Your workouts can be more fun.

We all know the treadmill isn’t the most exciting way to get fit, but training with a partner is sure to mix things up. Why not try something different to get your heart rate up, a one-on-one sport such as Squash or basketball? You can also teach each other new things, show your friend that brutal squat that you used to do on your own. The next day, they can teach you something new. Your body adapts and becomes efficient at moves that you’ve done again and again, so sharing ideas is a great idea to ensure your body doesn’t get complacent.

3. You will work harder.

Training with a partner will mean that you will push yourself harder than you will if you work out alone. Nobody wants to be the weak person that doesn’t keep up! Bearing this in mind, choose carefully when picking a training partner, you need to be on the same level in order to benefit from it. If you are newbie training with a marathon runner, your motivation will not last long, and the same goes if you are a power lifter training with someone that has no experience in lifting weights, you will soon get bored. Find that perfect training partner and you will be sure to challenge and push each other to new levels!

4. You will finally be able to afford a Personal Trainer.

For a fair amount of people, Personal Training is a luxury that will be instantly sacrificed when money is tight. Training with a partner will mean that the cost of a Personal Trainer can be split between you. Therefore you will not feel the financial strain of trying to keep your body in shape over times that stretch our wallets like Christmas and holidays!

5. You will always have a spotter.

Never again will you have to approach a random stranger to ask them to spot you. Never again will you have to count your own reps. Never again will you have to check your technical form in the mirror. Additionally, if you have a spotter you are more likely to try and push out those last couple of reps that you aren’t quite sure if you can make!
