Fitness tips for summer

1.Set realistic goals

This is probably the most important part of any fitness regime, ensuring you’re setting realistic and achievable goals that will keep you motivated. If you give yourself unrealistic targets, you’re setting yourself up to fail from the beginning and you can easily become demotivated.

Take small steps towards your goal so you can see steady progress and keep on track. Improving your fitness, whether it be strength training to build muscle, or cardio workouts to burn fat, will take time and commitment, so ensure you’re happy with your goals and how to achieve them.

2.Move around more

Getting fit isn’t all about complicated workout routines and an intensive exercise program, just simply moving around more can make a huge difference to your health and fitness. During the spring and summer months, getting out and about for a walk is far more appealing than in the winter, and getting your steps in will help you get fit for summer.

During the warmer months, it’s also nice to do outdoor summer fitness workouts and exercises in the warmth of the sun. At Bluecoat Sports, we have a first class Fitness Yard which is our outdoor workout area which is the perfect spot to train in during the warmer months. We also host some fitness classes outside in the yard, such as Move It which is an interval based class if you’re in need of some extra motivation and support while working out!

3.Drink lots of water

Keeping your body hydrated is extremely important when you’re trying to get fit and healthy as not only does it keep you feeling energised for longer, it keeps those hunger feelings at bay so you aren’t continually snacking throughout the day. This is important if your fitness goal is to achieve weight loss and get in shape.

Make sure you have a water bottle handy when doing any form of exercise to keep up your water intake as this will help you stay focused and fit.

4.Build up your fitness

This is one of the most important fitness tips for those who are trying to improve their fitness routine and workout more – you need to take it slow and build up your fitness and strength slowly. If you push yourself too much during a workout routine or fitness activity, you can end up overdoing it and injuring yourself.

This is even more important during the summer heat, so ensure you listen to your body during a workout routine and other fitness activities to ensure you’re not going to injure yourself. This will allow you to work steadily to reach your goals.

At Bluecoat Sports, we’re proud to have a team of fitness instructors that are highly experienced in creating fitness plans to help and assist you achieve your fitness goals at the right pace for you and your body. We also have qualified personal trainers who are available to book privately should you need extra support and motivation in a 1-1 style training session.

5.Track your progress

Our final fitness tip is another extremely important one – make sure you track your progress! Whether this be the strength of the weights you’re using over time or the duration you can run for on the treadmill. It may be hard to see progress in the moment but if you track as you go, you can look back at how far you’ve come and feel motivated by your progress.

Our BCS App allows you to do just this, you can set goals and targets as well as track your progress over time and see your fitness results.
